Byron Bay

So on our way to Byron we stopped at Coffs Harbour to check out the Big Banana!! Apparently they started building big things over here so I got my picture of the banana, although they are still too expensive to eat!!
We also passed by the Big Prawn..... And there was a photo stop, I wasn't as impressed with this so I didn't capture it.
We got into Byron Bay around 6ish and settled into the Holiday Village, Kelly, Tash and I stayed in an apartment which consisted of a double room and a dorm room with four beds. There were a couple in the other room, it was nice to have somewhere to chill out.
We just get changed and then headed over to "Cheeky Monkies" to meet the rest of the group for dinner.....well we weren't overly impressed with cheeky monkies due to the fact they are famous for wet t-shirt contests and having some strange power over drunken ladies that they seem to get on the tables and strip!!! We ate and left, needless to say we didn't return during our time in Byron although alot of the group did! We went to another pub that night and had a couple of drinks but it was a relatively early night.
Had a pretty chilled time at Byron really. The next day we grabbed breakfast, wandered round the shops and then down the beach. Had a delicious dinner from the supermarket, salad with broccoli, roast chicken and mayo followed. We went out for dessert and ended up at a place called The Balcony which was very nice. I had a chocolate fondant pudding with choc ice cream - it was soooo goooodd, also had cocktails. We had a nice evening chatting.
The next day we god up around 9 and had our cereal for breakfast. We left the apartment at 10ish and walked down to the beach. We walked all the way to the end and followed a path up the headland where we saw Australia's most Easterly Point. We also saw some wild dolphins and a whale which was pretty cool. We walked upto Byron lighthouse and then followed a new path through some bush which eventually took us back to the main beach which we rejoined. It really is beautiful with some stunning scenery.
We popped back to the apartment for lunch and then went to reception to hire bikes. We cycled round a bit and ended up on this road surrounded by trees and fields which was quite nice, very English really. I did have an issue where my seat was loose so as I cycled it slowly slid down so I had to keep stopping to put it up again but it was still a nice ride, good to get active. We did end up at like a farm dead end so we had to turn around and cycle back. We were out for about 1 1/2 hours.
We wandered down the main street and I had my astrology and tarot read. It was ok but nothing too amazing.... We'll see how right he is, apparently I'll meet someone in Sept/Oct but that won't mount up to much but then I'll meet a great love in Feb, that'd be interesting!!!
We went back to the apartment and just chilled for a few hours. After the dessert last night we decided to treat ourselves by booking a table at the Balcony tonight. We went for dinner at 7.30. Had some bread with Balsamic vinigar, oil and humus to share which was very nice. I had a couple of cocktails and a fantastic fillet steak with mash, spinach and tomatoes. Best meal I have had in ages.
Went for a couple of drinks after and when I asked for peach schnapps (sp?) I was given butterscotch!!! Not very nice. Any way went to bed around midnight. A very good day.
The next day Kelly and Tash sat on the beach most of the day and as I'm not into that I went for a little walk along the beach, did my journal, went on the net for a bit and just chilled. Had a shower and then they got back so we did some shopping and came back and made dinner. Watched the OC, think I've missed quite a few!! Early night as leaving in the morning.
We got up at 6.45 and got everything packed. Washed and dressed. We checked out just after 7.30 and got on the bus. Tanya was our driver. Left just after 8am
